【MLIT】Renewable Energy + Disaster Response

2025/04/10

To enhance Michi-no-Eki (roadside rest areas) as disaster response hubs, Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) reviewed power needs during emergencies:

Recommended Generation:
A 15 kW generator is advised to cover startup loads (~13 kW), with attention to devices like toilet pumps that require higher initial power.

Recommended Storage:
Approx. 400 kWh is needed to sustain basic operations for 72 hours (estimated consumption: 390 kWh).

Renewable energy sources were also proposed as a potential solution to meet generation needs in the event of a disaster.
